Local Area Information

The New Forest is a huge and beautiful landscape with ponies, donkeys, cows and pigs roaming freely throughout. The pigs are released onto the forest during the pannage season - they eat the acorns which are poisonous to the ponies.

It's one of the largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land, heathland and forest in Southern England, covering southwest Hampshire and southeast Wiltshire. It was proclaimed a royal forest by William the Conqueror and featured in the Domesday Book. It covers 220 square miles and includes over 140 miles of waymarked cycle tracks and footpaths, making it a brilliant place to explore.

We are in the southern fringes of the forest with many delightful villages, towns and beaches close by.
