Beaches Nearby
Several beaches near Lymington welcome dogs year-round, including Milford-on-Sea, Barton-on-Sea, Hurst Spit, and Lepe Beach, offering ample space for off-lead fun and scenic coastal walks.
Milford-on-Sea
Milford-on-Sea features Hordle Cliff and Hurst Road beaches, both allowing dogs all year without restrictions. The beaches offer shingle and sand areas, ideal for dogs to run and explore. Facilities include pay-and-display car parks, public toilets, cafes, and ice cream kiosks. The nearby Hurst Spit provides a scenic walk to Hurst Castle and views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Alternatively there is small ferry that runs there from Keyhaven Yacht Club.
Barton-on-Sea
Barton-on-Sea is also a dog-friendly beach open year-round, with cliff-top car parks, cafes, and toilets. Dogs can enjoy the beach freely, and the area is known for its stunning cliff views and pebble stretches. Some sections, like Pebble Beach restaurant, allow dogs on the sun terrace but not inside the restaurant.
Friars Cliff (our favourite) is a short walk from the car park and not usually crowded. The beach is mainly sand with a small promenade, beach huts and the Beach Hut Café, but no dogs are allowed from May to September.
Avon Beach just a little further west of Friars Cliff has a seasonal lifeguard service and chairs and loungers available to hire. There’s a restaurant, café and beach shop together with toilets and showers. However, it's often busy in peak season. No dogs May to September.
Lepe Beach to the East is a spacious shingle and sand beach managed as a country park, with dogs allowed year-round on most sections. At low tide, firm sand stretches for hundreds of metres provide plenty of running space. The beach also features rock pools, shallow paddling areas, and off-lead grassland behind the beach. Facilities include a large car park, café, toilets, and information centre.
